You know what I'd like to see? The most confusing science fiction/comic/time traveller convention ever. RetCon.

The inaugural RetCon would be RetCon #101, while the first ever RetCon would be held again the following year as #42, followed by the first-ever RetCon the year after that as #23, and so on from there.

Want to buy things? Go to the House Always Wins Hall (Dealer Room). Want to chill out? Too bad, because there's only the Can't Catch a Break Room, with consuite services provided by TANSTAAFL Catering. Need medical attention? You can always count on there being a paradox hanging around the con.

actually, i should suggest your idea to the person who runs events like Totally Normal (which is a one-off) and the Wicked Faires. the Wicked Faire has a theme every year; this year, it was Lovecraftian, and next year is going to be the Wicked Chocolate Factory. so a RetCon theme would fit right in.

Eh. The joke is kind of lost unless you do it every year. It doesn't work as a one-off.

Jeff Mach, the organizer of the Wicked events, said i was the second person to suggest the idea. i figure it must be because of the incestuous nature of cons - you go to a fair number of cons, and someone you know from the con circuit also attends Wicked events.

So, would the best rates for the next Con be "at the door" or the night before?

Doesn't matter if I cringe, only that the lying, cheating, stealing, no-good bottom feeders (the attendees, of course) do.

That is fracking BRILLIANT.

So what would be required to participate in Artists' Alley at THIS one? *grin*

Proof of participation in last year's Alley. (grin)
