That's just sad.
Lowes sent out an independent contractor to take some measurements for a delivery the store will be making in a week or two. Now, I'm not going to claim to be worth anything around the house. Seriously, I'm all thumbs. With that in mind, what does it say about either your contractor or your ability to request information of him when I, of all people, have to tell him what all measurements need to be taken? Or, for that matter, that he's measuring the wrong thing? I don't mean the wrong location out of several similar choices, folks, but rather along the lines of measuring a window when he's supposed to be measuring a door.

Just sad.

oh dear. That is pretty sad. I can see possibly measuring the window if it appears the delivery won't fit through the door and the window looks larger... but wow.

take notes, and when he's done with the project, tell the Lowe's that recommended him that they ought to consider using a different independent contractor.

I doubt he'll be coming out to install the item itself. We'll see. If there's any problems due to the measurements, Lowes will absorb the cost, not us.

what i meant was, Lowe's should be told that their subcontractor is less than competent, so they can get a different subcontractor for that kind of work.

I might. We'll see how I feel about the installation.

might i ask what they're going to install?

Traveler Farlandertwfarlan on June 5th, 2008 03:28 am (UTC)
A louvre door.

that's not exactly rocket science - i helped my dad install one when i was in high school. (unless there's been a tremendous technological improvement in louvered doors?)

No, you wouldn't think it would be very involved, would you?
Ace Lightning: purple warning signacelightning on June 5th, 2008 03:15 pm (UTC)
and these days they seem to deliberately build these things to be installed by cognitively impaired bonobos...

heh you could always call them up and go, "Are you having a promotion where we get a free door with the purchase of our window?" ::weg::

I must admit, that does sound like something I'd say.
Kat: catdurrrrrrkatmoonshaker on June 4th, 2008 04:48 pm (UTC)
and it would be such fun! ::weg::
