I embraced the power of "and."  
I'm not sure how to describe the experience of going to your local Post Office branch to receive a reliquary for the remains of a cat.

I would suggest one or both of the following:
1) Don't stop to consider it until after the fact.
2) Have a morbid sense of humor.

Okay, why is that I find nothing strange in going to the local Post Office branch to receive a reliquary for the remains of a cat? Now going to the local Post Office branch to pick up the remains of a cat... that's a different story.
