Hey, Elf, would you say this would contribute to a potentially truly independent City?

I wouldn't mind returning the land between cities to the forest.

I don't know, but that's damned interesting if it works.

I'd want to see a test site, naturally. I mean, there were big hopes for living in bio-domes, but those fell through because the internal environments were not sustainable like the theories predicted. I seem to remember that plants in the sealed system weren't getting pollinated, so those nasty bugs these guys say are just problems... no, kids, they have a place in the environment, and keeping out the bugs you don't want while letting in the ones you do doesn't always go the way you plan.

oh, i love that idea! so many people in the city are getting into the concept of "think globally, eat locally" - in fact, that's why Willie Nelson et. al. are bringing the Farm Aid concert to NYC this September. but "local produce" for a New Yorker means it's still trucked in from Long Island or New Jersey, except for a very few garden plots in vacant lots here and there. this sort of thing would make it truly local. it would also provide new job categories, and serve as an educational example for kids. now all we need is enormous financial backing...

Inch by inch toward free port status.
