Okay, for posterity's sake, assuming it isn't deleted.
SixApart/LiveJournal can do pretty much whatever it wants with its own servers. That they've kowtowed to some Crasstian, Paulite, Dominionist-linked group is something I find personally obnoxious. That they've handled this thing in the most ham-handed method possible is just irritating.
However, I have no plans at this time to leave LJ.
I received a permanent account as a gift prior to the SixApart purchase. Frankly, that makes me think that SixApart would be just as happy if I was gone and that there's basically nothing I can say that would be of interest to them. If their chairman was truly representative of SixApart's stance in his comments earlier, that 6A is not doing this out of legal fears but is doing this in an effort to cleanse LJ of what 6A considers "inappropriate content," then someone from 6A should probably take a look at my journal. I get the feeling I'm not someone they want here, either. After all, I think for myself, say what I think, say what I mean, and I call a spade a fucking shovel. I don't kiss the ass of "protect the children at all costs" whiny cowards who try to baby-bumper the entire world out of a fear that their children will grow up to be functional adults, nor do I suffer fools of any other stripe or creed. I'm an equal-opportunity insulter, a cynic, and support the right to discuss ANYTHING AT ANYTIME.
The only truly dangerous idea is the one you're not allowed to discuss.
I'm also too lazy to bother setting up a journal at any of the competing services and rebuild my reading list. If LJ dies or even just kills this journal, I'm not going to set myself up to be knocked down again when the next blogging service knuckles under to a peon pressure group. Considering I don't have my own Web server, I'll simply quit personal blogging. It's a filthy habit, anyway.
