Oh, Twisting Nether this.
(sigh) I blame several people for this.

Should a certain thing come to pass, Ali and I shall be rejoining the addicts of Warcrack. Yep. It's a sickness, I know. From my buddy at work to our lovely houseguests yesterday, we have a number of people wanting us to come back to WoW. Worst of all was when I told Ali about the mounting pressure and she said what I never imagined I'd hear from her: "You know, I've kind of been missing it, too."

My fate was sealed.

Burning Crusade, here I come.

You know you want to roll Dark Iron/Alliance. <_< Otherwise, maybe I'll see you (or kill you) in the battlegrounds. Gnome rogue named Anklegank.
Traveler Farlandertwfarlan on December 25th, 2006 06:06 pm (UTC)
I'm looking at running on either Thorium Brotherhood for the Alliance or Eitrigg for the Horde. I used to play on Alleria, but I doubt I'll go back there. We'll see.

Let us know where you end up. Because, you know, what I really need is yet another server worth of characters. I need a Blood Elf, though, I have to admit. Hell, one of each of the new ones, why not? I scatter characters all over the place; I get bored easily.
Traveler Farlandertwfarlan on December 25th, 2006 09:36 pm (UTC)
Yes, I too suffer from the heartbreak of ... altitis! A character on half the servers, some servers full up with alts. Gets scary.

I'll probably go with TB and Eitrigg. We've got some friends who are frequent players with active guilds there, so it'll be helpful to have the support base.

*nod* When I started my first girl, I started her on a server where one of my coworkers played, and he gave me a few gold to start out my skills. When I started on my second server, when my guild fell apart, one of the moved guildies did the same thing there. Even without cash, playing in a cone of silence gets kind of depressing.
Traveler Farlandertwfarlan on December 25th, 2006 09:52 pm (UTC)
Yeah, that's been one of my problems with WoW in the past. My only time to really play was during the day when most people are at work.

My friends' solution from yesterday: play with their guild, which is chockablock full of Aussies. :)
= Faith = Trust =amberfox on December 25th, 2006 10:01 pm (UTC)
Which is why I have a couple of chars on an Aussie server. But US ones have better access to stuff during the day with everyone gone.
Traveler Farlandertwfarlan on December 25th, 2006 10:06 pm (UTC)
Access to stuff that I couldn't get to without people to make up a five- or ten-person team, maybe.
= Faith = Trust =amberfox on December 25th, 2006 10:10 pm (UTC)
Nah, I'm just thinking of not having to fight for a place to solo for a while. My main's a hunter, so between me and Phira, we can make a pretty good profit in an hour or two, if we can get at a spot big enough to not have to sit around and wait for respawns for half of it.
Traveler Farlandertwfarlan on December 25th, 2006 10:38 pm (UTC)
I never had trouble finding somewhere to hunt. I got to a point where what I needed wasn't more gold or materials but armor pieces or other things that dropped from dungeon runs or elites. Add to that the circumstances at the time (battlegrounds that could take all day to open even once, a character class that most parties only needed one of and that was rarely me, a lack of time to raid and thus a lack of point in continuing past the 60 dungeon level, etc.) and there wasn't a point in going on with my character.

As Burning Crusade is solving all of that as well as providing new challenges, it makes sense to re-activate our accounts, should money allow.

Those were always problems, too, but I'm antisocial enough that it didn't bother me too much not to group more. I grouped when my friends were available, and when they weren't, I soloed. And while I know my girl needs more high-end armor, what I have does well enough for the moment. I'll never be able to do the epic dungeons without grinding for gear for a few months, though. And frankly, I don't really feel like I'm missing anything from that.
Traveler Farlandertwfarlan on December 26th, 2006 02:21 am (UTC)
In my paladin's case, I needed to finish his Dungeon set. That requires a group. There wasn't going to be any better armor that I could get than completing the Lightforge. In my warrior's case, same thing. I was going for the Dungeon set because there wasn't much in the way of "better" for him than that which I could reasonably achieve on my own.

I'm fairly antisocial at times, too, but up until Burning Crusade at least, the top levels required groups.

I run a guild on Bronzebeard if you decide to head that way. Alliance side. Its called Exiled Kingdom. We're building up for, get this, casual end-game progression. Right now, we're looking to do MC on Friday/Saturday nights.

Yeah, I'm blathering. I love my folks. If you do hit BB, look me up. I'm usually on as Utahcarol or Jerryleelew. If I'm not on, grab one of my officers and tell them I said to hook you up. :)
Traveler Farlandertwfarlan on December 26th, 2006 03:06 pm (UTC)
Cool. I'll keep it in mind. Casual end game is exactly what I'll be looking for about five months from rejoining. heh
Steve McKnellydenali1 on December 26th, 2006 03:13 pm (UTC)
Hey, I'm sure will still be doing it then. A bunch of us want to hit 70 and shove a foot up ol' Rags hershey highway just for the hell of it. Along with giving the Barons (Geddon and Rivendare) a sound thrashing for all our past pain and suffering.

You know, in the same way you go back to kill Stitches when you hit 60. Just because.

The first time is free, you know, but from now on, pay me ... me ... me ... me ... me ... (Evil laugh) You Lose!
( Styx - Pieces of Eight - Queen of Spades )
Traveler Farlandertwfarlan on December 25th, 2006 09:37 pm (UTC)
You're the only person I know who'd be quoting Styx. :) Other than me, that is.
rickvsrickvs on December 25th, 2006 09:41 pm (UTC)
If a pair of tickets to see them happens to cross my palm, and it turns out I won't use them myself, would either you or Merlin be interested? They're still touring with a couple of their original members...
Traveler Farlandertwfarlan on December 25th, 2006 09:44 pm (UTC)
It would depend on the timing, but yeah, I still like Styx. I've seen them once before, so if Merlin hasn't, give him dibs.
Merlinmerlin_t_wizard on December 25th, 2006 10:03 pm (UTC)
Rick, you know how wonky my schedule is. I'm thrilled that you'd think of giving me something like that, Thank You. If it so happens, let me know, I'll see how the stars align.

Paragon City will miss you.
Traveler Farlandertwfarlan on December 26th, 2006 01:20 pm (UTC)
Oh no. Don't misunderstand. I didn't say I'm leaving CoX. I'm still having too much fun with CoV and with the Safeguard stuff in CoH to walk away.

If it was a matter of leaving CoX, the switch would have happened already. The circumstance we're waiting on is to see if Ali gets a better paying job so that we can afford to keep two MMOs running concurrently. If she doesn't get a pay increase, we won't be going to WoW.
Steve McKnellydenali1 on December 26th, 2006 02:59 pm (UTC)
Now if you guys were only on Bronzebeard. *sniffle*
Traveler Farlandertwfarlan on December 26th, 2006 03:06 pm (UTC)
Horde or Alliance?
Reana Bladereana on December 27th, 2006 04:06 am (UTC)
*crosses fingers and toes, hell, braids hair for Ali's pay increase*

Let me know what happens =D

Thorium Brotherhood, guildname the Forgotten, pst Shadefury, Damehonor, Mynks, or Blaydesong!

Altitis at its finest! LOL

Traveler Farlandertwfarlan on January 6th, 2007 03:47 am (UTC)
Just logged in and sent you a tell, though I note you didn't see it as you were AFK. I'm on TB as Tundher.
Traveler Farlandertwfarlan on January 8th, 2007 11:19 pm (UTC)
By the way. What's the name of the guild on Eitrigg that Jake mentioned while you guys were here? I'm playing an orc warlock on that server during the day while Ali is at work and I thought I might hook up with the guild he mentioned, given the chance.
