It made sense at the time.
There are days when I miss being a fundamentalist Christian.

Yes, I was one. A true believer, a One-and-Only Wayist. I believed in the Word, its perfection, its guidance, its message for the world and its viability as the only path to God.

(Of course, I also believed in magic and felt a thrill at the very thought of it that would eventually surpass anything I ever felt in church, but that's not the point right now.)

Anyway, the reason I occasionally miss fundamentalism is that I miss the certainty. All things had one answer, and the answer was guaranteed to be correct. Inconsistencies were illusions created by a failure of correct understanding, always on my part.

It's seductive, certainty. It's why sheep can sleep outdoors despite the sound of wolves in the hills. The shepherd has it under control, so there's no reason to fear, to wonder, to ponder or think. Eat your grass, go with the herd, and be like them. Fit in and be happy, little lamb.

Sometimes, I miss it.

*hug*

being blind voluntarily is nothing to be happy about, my dear.

we black sheep are glad to have you in our shepherdless field. ;)

Ignorance was bliss, Ama.

Being a black sheep is nothing of which to be proud, either. A black sheep is still prey, and is worse off than any other, for it lacks two things: camoflage and support.

what isn't prey these days? with humans murdering everything, even wolves are on the brink of extinction in most places.

as for camo and support, you do have those - other black sheep and maybe the reformed vegetarian wolves! ;)

Show me a vegetarian wolf and I'll show you a politician... or a wolf just waiting for the right moment alone with a gullible sheep.

it was a JOKE! *pokepunch*

It was a joke, sure. That doesn't mean it isn't an important point. Hells, comedy is one of the primary avenues of social criticism in a society like this one. Ridicule the ridiculous; the moment you accept the nonsensical as "sense," you've lost.

so i'm guessing those who listen to Georgie W. are lost.
