Phanean movement goals
Quickly, a list of the goals of a* Phanean movement:

  • Encourage increased intelligence

  • Support scientific research

  • Restore a sense of wonder in all things

  • Strive towards a greater understanding of all things and peoples

  • Remember the past, see the present, look forward towards the future

-----

* I say here "a" movement because I truly doubt there ever will or even could be a "the" applied accurately. There are certainly things that are not Phanean, but the idea of an overarching Phanean movement that encompasses all that could be Phanean ... I won't say that it disturbs me. I will however say that I doubt there ever could truly be such an organization, or at least one that does anything other than maintain a networking list or a central information repository a la "wiki." There's no such thing as Orthodox Phaneanism, nor frankly should there ever be. It's oxymoronic.

What, the whole thing? The list of goals? The notes at the end?

Phaneanism is the philosophy by which I try to live. It also happens to be my religion, although it has nothing in it requiring any religious belief.

it's a lovely life philosophy.

(shrug) It works for me. If it works for other people, too, great.

Thank you. :)

The goals are very likable. I especially like these two:

Restore a sense of wonder in all things
Strive towards a greater understanding of all things and peoples

I've thought at times that to do one would result in the other.
docjeff on September 1st, 2006 06:49 pm (UTC)
Yes, it would. And I see nothing wrong with that either

well, you know i'm very much in favor of all of those goals. and i think i'm pretty good at "sense of wonder"... ;-)

A nice set of goals. I may not follow your path, but I can say that (from what I have seen) I have no objections it.

""...no objections to it.""

Grr, I hate typos.

(shrug) Good. The goals themselves are the easy part, of course. The devil is in the details.
